Happy Holidays!

Well I missed out on the Halloween pics. I accidentally deleted them off of my computer. But here are some random pics of all of us. Just a note about my son in a dress...Gwen so very badly wishes for a little sister! She is very convincing of making her brother somewhat fulfill her dreams of one day having a sister.

Hunting Season!

SO I am officially the world's worst blogger! We are so busy around here lately that I myself can barely keep up. We shipped the calves off last week! Hoo ray! another year gone by with a good "crop". My kids are growing like weeds so I have been sifting through there closets selling stuff on eBay to make a few extra bucks. I just finished making their costumes as well. Pictures to come of those (spoiler: E3 might be mistaken for a Disney terrorist, hahahaha)And Hunting season has now kicked off.

This is some good ole' family time here on the Brown Ranch. Since the ranch is so large we get to take the kids with us when we go hunting. We are spoiled in the way that our kids are able to drive around with us while we are hunting our game. Gwen and E3 are getting very good at spotting. However sometimes their imaginations like to kick in as well and they spot so much more than just deer and antelope. Earl swears he saw a bull dozer and a combine on the side of the mountain the other day and Gwen somehow always managed to spot a Dinosaur here and there.
the picture is of one of Earl's antelope from the other day. We still have three more "prong horn" tags to fill an one Elk. Yes, the elk tag is mine! I am so excited!

pictures didn't post! So here they are.

just a fun pic

Ok I think I might be the worlds worst blogger, but here are a few new pics. I know it has been forever since I posted. Sorry.

we have been busy around here finally getting to hay now that the weather decided to stop raining for a few days. However with no rain you get hot, hot, hot. But it is good for the ranch and what needs to be done around here.

This feet picture was taken by my husband. He just got a weird itch and wanted a pic of all of our feet.

The cat is our newest member to the family. Meet Rosie, everybody. Earl caught this kitten a couple of weeks ago. it is one of those crazy cats that likes to randomly attack everything. Your head in the middle of the night, your leg as you walk through the house, your hand if you even slightly move it. She is crazy! Really cute with her little bobbed tail. She wags it like a dog. She will also play with a ball like a dog. The kids love her and she is a great addition to our little family.

Muttin' Bustin'!

fourth of july was spent at teh Cleveland Ranch Rodeo, as is tradition. However, Earl could not participate this year because of a ligament injury in his hand that led to a doctors visit and then surgery. But Gwen and Earl got to ride sheep for the first time. The pictures say it all...Gwen loved it....Earl was terrified to death! hahahaha I can't wait to show him this picture when he is older, and riding broncs (maybe?). However Earl thoroughly enjoyed the boot race, Gwen did too.

OOPS I forgot to upload the pics.

A wedding!

Gwen, Earl, Medium Earl, and Steve all had a chance to participate in a wedding a couple of weekends ago. It was Earl's good friend Tyler who got hitched. He married Emily Evans who was a school teacher at one of the one room schools out here. The kids looked so stinking cute. Especially E3 in his little tux with tails! I was a fun day and I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Branding Season

it is branding season and My children are thrilled! Gwen recently got to brand her first calf, which she was ecstatic about. She is such a cowgirl, so much more than her mother. I thought I was a cowgirl until I moved out here and figured out what a real "cowgirl" is and that is defiantly not me. I am not nearly as tough as I should be. Any who, Gwen now lives for the branding. Every Branding we go to she jumps right in the corral ready to get to work, from branding the calves to helping me keep tally ("that one is a boy mom, and that one is a dirl"), to helping others mark after vaccinaction. Gwen is such a go getter and I am so proud of her. She even rides the calves as they get up! Earl is much more soft hearted than his sister. He is not quite ready to work with the animals. He prefers to simply chase the calves around.

Gwen is 4!

Gwen turned four yesterday. She was so excited to finally get to open her gifts and have her beauty and the beast cake. She loved picking out her cake and eating the frosting. Thanks Granny for the gifts! oh and the dress was my flower girl dress from a wedding I was in when i was Gwen's age.

the creek flooding

here are the pictures I said I would post of the creek flooding. What you see is supposed to be a hay field, but it is submergded under running water. We even had some geese and ducks land in the water. I told Earl it sounded like MN at night around here because you could hear the ducks, geese, and frogs all chit chatting at night.

Mudding

After our lovely snow storms we had in April and May, not only was the creek flooding like crazy but there was an abundance of mud as well. Of course, My children could not resist and these pictures show the results of me not paying attention while working in my gardens.

Tuesday's Treat

ok So I really like Melissa's idea of wordless Wednesday, but I don't want to be a complete copy-cat, so I am establishing "Tuesday's Treat". I am going to do my best to post a new picture of the little rugrats every Tuesday. Hope you all enjoy!

Spring in the mountains

Soooo....last week we got dumped on again! This will be our third blizzard in one month. The first one we got 2 and a half feet (beginning of April) second one 8 inches while I was in MN visiting family, and the third (hopefully FINAL)one we got three feet the day after I got back from MN. I have never seen so much snow in my life! this is craziness. Now I know why Earl always makes me stock up on all the essentials. I always thought he was joking when he told me there is always a chance we could be stuck out on the ranch for a week at a time. This time he was right. During the three day storm we lost power I believe three times. Gwen told me "well mom since the lights don't work I think I will just go watch a movie" (silly little girl). Thank goodness for the wood stove and the propane cook stove. But now the snow is melting and the creek bottom field behind the house is flooded. I would not be surprised if a flock of geese landed back there mistaken it for a lake! hahaha I will post more pictures of the flood later.

Motoring

Since before E3 could talk he has been able to make a motor sound. And now that he is 2 he has perfected it and put it to any toy or moving object, including his brother's walker. Yesterday he decided to introduce Frank to his "motoring" habit by pushing him around the kitchen and making engine sounds. Also, to Earl, Frank's walker is not what it should be called. Earl considers it his "snowmobile" and when Frank is not sitting in it Earl will get in it and "snowmobile" around the house (quite recklessly, good thing this walker is durable enough for a wild 2 year old.

Gwen's Style

Gwen has always been a girl who knows what she wants, including what she wants to wear. She often changes her outfits to match what kind of a mood she is in. Although she prefers to wear dresses and be girly she sometimes comes up with some unusual concoctions. The picture of her in the blue PJ's was her idea of a good outfit to wear to town the other day. She did not win that battle, I made her change. She also likes to wear her "hi-heels" around the house too. We love our little fashionista and look forward to her new outfits everyday.
